The Vietnamese Association of Illinois is the lead agency in partnership with Loyola University Chicago’s School of Social Work for the B.R.A.V.E. (Building Resilience Against Violence Engagement) Project, a three-year longitudinal study that investigates the factors that increase resilience and reduce the risk of violence among at-risk youth. This project aims to provide youth with culturally competent programming, meaningful experiences and access to a mentor. There are two additional sites for this project located at By the Hand Englewood and Centro Romero.
Students explore crucial topics on mental health, such as anxiety, substance abuse and relationships by participating in engaging activities and critical discussions.
Each year of the project, Loyola hosts a BRAVE retreat at the LUC Lakeshore Campus in Roger’s Park.
