VAI’s Youth Program has served thousands of youth since its founding. Today, we support over 115 students in our year-round after school and summer programming. Including after-school programming focusing on tutoring and homework help, VAI’s youth program also focuses on building the leadership skills and emotional intelligence that empower young people from underrepresented communities. All young people need guidance, encouragement, and decision-making support as they transition into adulthood and whichever future pathway they choose. For under resourced communities, this support often comes from community-based networks of organizations, families and the surrounding community. VAI seeks to supplement gaps for our youth participants through our research-based, transformative, and effective year-round after-school programs.
Activities include community building, team building, and leadership skill building workshops aimed to build student’s understanding of cultural identity and belonging amongst themselves and within their Uptown neighborhood.
