Bethy Gidey Abrha (she/her) is the Immigration Service Lead at the Vietnamese Association of Illinois. 

Bethy got her Law degree (LLB) as well as B.A in Political Science and International Relations from Mekelle University in 2016.  She has also completed her master’s degree (LLM) in International Human Rights Law from Lund University in Sweden. Recently, in December 2021, she got her General Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign. Bethy is passionate about serving the immigrant community members, and she also wrote her master’s thesis on undocumented migrant women. She has experience working for a legal aid center as a team coordinator and legal representative as well as an assistant lecturer while she was in Mekelle. In her leisure time, Bethy loves to travel, socialize and play musical instruments.
