Community Organizing

springfield 2019

VAI’s Organizing Program builds solidarity among Vietnamese American and immigrant communities in Cook and DuPage counties. Through political education, leadership development, and civic engagement, we empower community members to lead policy advocacy and community-wide efforts.

Vietnamese Social Justice Classes

VAI offers weekly Vietnamese Social Justice Classes for young people ages 18+ to participate in political education and Vietnamese-language classes. We provide a space for young people to learn how-to and to have discussions about political issues in Vietnamese. Classes are on Thursdays at 6:00-7:30 PM and are fully virtual. To register or learn more, email linh.le@hnvi.org

Argyle Mutual Aid Series

VAI partners with Axis Lab, Pilsen Food Pantry, Care 4 Real, and X-Market to host a mutual aid series aimed at nurturing the health and well-being of the community and building cross-racial solidarity. Every two weeks, we provide free groceries and hygiene supplies to Black, Latinx, and Southeast Asian community members while engaging in conversations about community care, housing and development, and racial justice.
