As one of the largest social-service agencies on Chicago’s Northside, the Vietnamese Association of Illinois has promoted Vietnamese-American identity and strengthened cultural heritage for over 40 years. Each year, VAI’s community gathers to celebrate the Lunar New Year, offering cultural performances, traditional games, Vietnamese food, as well as Li xi (lucky money) for the children.
